What is musk

“Musk” (Latin for “moschus”) is a strong odorant produced by the preputial gland of male musk animals, such as beavers. Musk is considered a highly valuable ingredient in perfumery, where it is used as a base note, as well as in cosmetics and medicine. In cosmetics, musk is used in anti-aging products to rejuvenate the skin and smooth wrinkles. Cosmetics containing musk are effective at replenishing moisture and correcting mineral and vitamin deficiencies.

In medicine and cosmetology

Musk is known in folk medicine as a biological stimulant, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral agent. It is also considered an “emergency aid” for poisonings, a remedy for colds and menstrual pain, and an effective treatment for hangover syndrome.
